Money is Tight
Ok I admit it, I use coupons. I don’t mind clipping a coupon out of the paper or using a promotional code when I make an online purchase. I like to save money. I am sure you like to save money too.
On a daily basis I look at the local listings of homes going on the market. We are very fortunate to get many of the new listings every week but I can’t help but notice that folks are still listing with brokerages who charge far more than we do for real estate services. That doesn’t surprise me in the same way I notice that many folks don’t have any coupons at the checkout when they shop for groceries.
And while you may or may not be clipping coupons I am sure you are careful with your money. You spend hours of research choosing a stock or an investment. You spend countless hours researching purchases that you make. Do you spend the same amount of time choosing a real estate agent?
According to the National Association of Realtors, 2/3 of the sellers only talk to one agent when they list their home for sale. You may know an agent, or you may be thinking about using your agent who sold you your home years ago. Statistically speaking you are unlikely to talk to more than one agent. That’s fine with us if you picked us, but if you haven’t talked to us at Perry Wellington Realty, you really should.
Your home is probably one of the largest assets you have. For many people their homes represent their single largest investments. For this reason you have to shop around. In my opinion commission RATES charged by brokers who charge 6%-7% don’t work today when the average home sale price in our region is roughly $130,000. Paying $7,000 or $8,000 in commission is a lot of money, particularly when you can get the same or better results with Perry Wellington Realty by paying much less.
I started Perry Wellington Realty out of the frustration of having to pay 6% to sell my home. Like you, I want to get the most out of my hard earned money. When I bought my first house over 30 years ago I am sure 6% made sense. Now that home prices are so much more, 6% really isn’t practical. I decided that more people feel like me and want to be able to pay a more reasonable rate – so 4.5% was born.
We are very happy that many of you have agreed with us to make us the number one brokerage in the area. Agents have also agreed that sellers want to pay less and have joined up with us to help sellers save. So keep clipping coupons and keep saving to make your money go as far as possible.
